Holiday Adopt A Family Program

Many parents of children with cancer are forced to leave their jobs due to extended time spent in the hospital, which leads to additional financial burdens.

For families struggling with childhood cancer, finances often become an overwhelming burden; one parent is frequently forced to stop working and become a fulltime caregiver, which allows mounting medical bills to quickly equal debt. For these families, the holiday season ceases to be a lighthearted time of giving, and becomes yet another financial stressor.  Childhood Cancer Careline’s annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program helps to ease the financial and emotional hardship of the holidays for childhood cancer families. This program is made possible entirely through community support, and every year our organization has been blessed with the donors, volunteers, and sponsors needed to help us fulfill our mission.

We give thanks to all those who have helped us in the past to bring the magic of the season to so many struggling families, and we would like to again invite the public to help us continue this project for the upcoming holiday season.

Family Events

Groups will often sponsor annual events for our families such as M-Bar-C Ranch outting, picnics, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Events, Family Fall Harvest Party, or movie nights.Children undergoing chemotherapy are very susceptible to infections. Therefore, regular playgroups, school, and public activities are often out of the question. Our Social Events are a way for children to play in a clean, fun environment with other children that have no hair. This promotes and maintains relationships outside the hospital setting, decreases the sense of social isolation, and provides a much needed break from the rigors of cancer treatment.

Our goal is to provide an opportunity for kids who are in treatment to interact with kids who are off treatment. This will help to promote lasting support and friendships as well as hope for a future.
